Activity 3: Burning Up…

On your blog, post a picture of your graph..
While it can get hot in New Zealand, especially in the middle of summer, it gets even hotter in places like Dallol (Ethiopia), Dasht-e Loot (Iran), Tirat Zvi (Israel), Kabili (Tunisia) and Bandar-e Mahshahr (Iran).
The hottest temperature on record in each place is: Dallol: 41oC; Dasht-e Loot: 71oC; Tirat Zvi: 54oC; Kabili: 55oC; Bandar-e Mahshahr: 51oC. Crazy ‘eh?!
For this activity, you are asked to use this information to create a graph. The graph should have a title along with the names of each city and their hottest recorded temperatures. You can draw the graph by hand or use a computer programme like Google Draw to create your graph. It’s completely up to you!

This is my graph:

  1. Hello again Alex,

Congratulations on having a go at creating this bar graph. Isn't it crazy how the temperature can rise up to over 50°C in some of these cities? I cannot imagine how frustrating it would be to stay under such heat.

I remember last year when I visited Sydney, it was only 32°C but that was hot enough to keep me sweating. I am usually good with heat but oh my goodness when the concrete gets all heated up it's like stepping on magma! Do you prefer heat or cold? In other words, which season do you prefer out of summer and winter?

    * Everything else is accurate on your graph apart from the last city. The hottest temperature on record in Bandar-e Mahshahr is 51°C!

Could you possibly change this and add another bar diagram by editing this post? It is super important to double-check your numbers when you're drawing graphs. Great effort though!

    From Susie :)

  2. Kia Ora Alex,

Well done for completing this activity. I finished this activity too. It's great to see you completing these activities during these summer holidays. Thanks for sharing your learning about this activity. Did you enjoy doing this task? Your working graph has showed us a lot. I love the way that you've created this.

    NICE:)
