Activity 2: The Great Taupo Cycle Challenge

Every year approximately 7500 people arrive in Taupo, New Zealand to compete in a one-day cycling race around Lake Taupo. The race route is 160 km in length. Participants can choose to compete in the full race or the half-race (80 km). Let’s imagine that you were given a free ticket to compete in the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge next year and you were able to bring three people with you as your ‘support crew.’ Who would you bring with you?
If it was me, I would choose my son, Aronui, as one of my supporters because he’s really funny and energetic. I think that he would make sure that I had a great time and that I spent the entire day laughing and smiling. I would also choose my sister, Leigh, because she is very strong and fast. Thirdly, I would choose my co-leader, Hazel, because she is very organised and would make sure that we followed the trail and didn’t get lost!
On your blog, list the three people you would like to have on your Lake Taupo Cycle Race Support Crew. Tell us why you have chosen each person.
I would choose:

1. Daniel - Because he's a fast worker.
2. Thomas - Because he's talkative.
3. Aung Naing - Because he's good company.

  1. Kia Ora Alex,

It sounds like you have am awesome support team for the Great Taupo Cycle Challenge. Do you think you would ever want to compete in the Great Taupo Cycle Challenge? There are a few races that go all the way around Lake Taupo or just parts of it. I think I would like to compete in the race that goes all the way around Lake Taupo because I think I would be a big accomplishment to cycle around the whole of Lake Taupo!

    Blog ya later,

    Dani

  2. Kia Ora Alex,

Good job for completing this activity. I finished this activity too. It's great to see you completing these activities during these summer holidays. Thanks for sharing your learning about this activity. Did you enjoy doing this task? Why? Your support crew is awesome. You would sure make a great team together, because by the looks of it they are all confident, brave, and supportive. It's great to hear that Aung Naing is one of your support crew members. Yes he is really great with showing company around people. Daniel "WOW" he is a fast worker. Thomas would be an awesome one too, because he can discuss the ideas, since he's talkative.

    NICE:)
