Activity 2: It’s All in the Name

Rotorua is one of New Zealand’s most popular tourist destinations. It is a city filled with incredible forests, mountain biking tracks, lakes, and geothermal wonders, including hot springs (geysers) and mud pools. One of the most famous geothermal pools is called the Devil’s Bath at Wai-o-Tapu Thermal Wonderland. It is a neon green pool of stinky water.
Over the years, people have suggested that we come up with a new name for the pool. What do you think we should call it? Take a minute to let your creative juices flow.

On your blog, give us a list of three to five options for the name of this geothermal pool. Put a star (*) beside the name that you like the most.

For this task I needed to think of three to five different names for the Devil's Bath.

1.Ogre Pit
2.Slime Pit
3.Green Bog*
4.Shrek's Haven
5.Giant's Bath

  1. Mōrena Alex,

Great job on using your imagination to come up with a list of names for this geothermal pool. It is pretty cool that you thought about the characters that could possibly represent the colour of this pool. Shrek and Ogre are definitely some of the legendary monsters/creatures that could live in a magical area like this.

Do you think there would be any creatures living in or around this pool? If so, what kind of creatures would they be?

    Bye for now,
    Susie

Well done for completing this activity. I finished this activity too. It's great to see you completing these activities during these summer holidays. Thanks for sharing your learning about this activity. Did you enjoy doing this task? Why? The image looks nice. I love the colour green too. I love the names that you have chosen for this green pool. I love the Ogre Pit.

    NICE:)

  3. Hello Alex! You came up with some pretty creative and great names for the Geothermal pool. I was very interested with Slime pit myself. The picture of it seems so fascinating to me, I have never seen anything like it, have you? Keep it up!
