Today I did the bonus activity for day 4 of the summer learning journey, for it I had to rate three videos of kapa haka from 1-3.
1: Number one because they were all singing and had good costumes.
2: Number two because they used musical instruments.
3: Number three because the men didn't do much aside from singing.
Hi Alex,
ReplyDeleteRuby here from the Summer Learning Journey team!
Good work ranking these songs. I like Te Puku o Te Ika that most as well. They're singing with a purpose which I think is important. Knowing and liking the meaning of a song is just as important as liking the tune if you ask me!
What else made you like Te Puku o Te Ika the most? I like the harmonising they do.
My second favourite was Tamatea Arikinui which you have put in last place. I think the men sang beautifully and traditionally women were the ones who danced with poi. They were using guitars for this song as well! I liked how happy this song was.
I look forward to reading more of your blog over summer.
Cheers,
Ruby.
Hi Alex
ReplyDeleteWell done on completing this summer learning journey activity. I also like Te Puku o Te Ika and can understand why you put it in first place. Although, to be fair to the other two songs, they are all pretty good. Keep up the good work Alex!
