Kiwi Can

This week in Kiwi Can we were learning more about our topic and theme which are positive relationships and positive communication. Our teachers; Miss Paige and Mr Alipati also taught us a game called Chop Suey Salute, for it we needed to respond to commands with their set actions. For the first command we needed to punch outwards with our right hand, for the second we needed to punch with both our hands, for the third we needed to punch with both our hands and kick, the forth was a kamehameha action and the fifth was an uppercut.

This week in Kiwi Can we were learning more about values and how we can use them in our everyday lives, we also talked about rules, why we have them and what they do. We had new teachers this week and their names are Mr Latu and Miss Paige. The theme for this term is respect. We also played two games, for one of them we were split into two groups and then needed to have a debate. And for the other one we needed to do an action for every number said so in pairs if one of us said one they'd need to clap at the same time, and for two it was a bow and three was a small kick.

This week for Kiwi Can we were learning about perseverance, when you persevere you don't give up on what you're doing, no matter how hard or frustrating it is. One example of persevering is when you play a sport, your team might be losing the game but no matter what you keep going, We also played two games, for one of them one person needed to try and tag other people, when they tagged the other person they both needed to link arms and then keep tagging others until everyone was tagged and there was a big line. The aim of the other game was to get an invisible ball from one side of a court to another without being touched by the other team.

This week in Kiwi Can we were learning more about values, we also played two games, one of them was hand-knots and the other a type of dodge ball. for the hand-knots we were separated into three different groups, each with six people. in those groups we needed to hold  the hands of two people that weren't right next to us. After that was done all of the hand should've been in the middle, on top of each other. the task from then on was to somehow untangle ourselves. My group came last for that activity. For the dodge ball game we needed to get into a circle and in that circle the we were numbered from one to four. When your number was called out you and your group needed to get into the middle and the other groups needed to work together to roll the ball into you as fast as they could.

This week during Kiwi Can we had a new topic- accountability. The definition for accountability is being able to take responsibility for our own actions, other values that go with accountability are honesty and integrity. An example of showing accountability is getting to school early, getting work done before the deadline and bringing the correct uniform to school everyday. The Kiwi Can instructors (Mr Matt and Miss Lily) taught us two games, one of them was called Copy Me, for it we were split up into four groups. We then needed to choose one person to be our leader, that person would then pick a card and based on the number that the card had the group would need to do something. Some examples for that are; Fornite dances (10 seconds), pretending to sleep (10 or 5 seconds) and running on the spot (10 seconds). The other game that we played was called fruit salad, for it Group B needed to be put into pairs and in those pairs respond to these commands if said: Green light (Swap places with partner who should be in front), Yellow light (one partner sits on the other's knee) and fruit salad (Power walking around the circle of people). We also played a game of Master G.K.Q (General Knowledge Questions) where one person had to try and make it through the circle of other people without getting a question wrong.

Kiwi Can

Today during Kiwi Can we were learning more about our theme which was integrity and our topic which was role models. The first game that we played was one where the whole group was put into a circle and when apple was called we had to jump forwards (to the back of the person in front of us), when banana was called it was the opposite (jumping backwards), and when orange was called we needed to turn around. The other game that we played was one where we acted out people whilst being statues.

Yesterday during Kiwi Can we learnt more about integrity, good choices, bad choices and also played two games. To show integrity you need to do to right thing even when others aren't looking. The first game's name was CLAP! and for it we needed to clap our hands every time the instructors crossed their arms or clapped their hands, lots of people we caught out because the instructors stopped just before crossing their arms. For the other game we needed to be split up into two teams and in those teams we played hand soccer, the rules were: Only one hand at a time (We could swap though), you could only go when your number was called and no goalies.

Kiwi Can Reflection

Yesterday at Kiwi Can LS2 group B played two games and learnt more about fairness and fair play, to do the first game we had to get into a circle and in that circle there were three hoops. We were then numbered from 1-4 and whenever a number was said, the people who were that number then had to speed walk around the circle until we reached our original spot, when we reached there the objective was to quickly run into a hoop. That continued on until the Kiwi Can instructors started to take the hoops away, I managed to be the last number 2 but I was caught out in the last match. The second game that we played was ball tag, three people from one team were the taggers and a whole other team were the runners. The rules for the taggers were; You're not allowed to move while holding the ball, you can't throw the ball at someone and you can't one hand tag someone with the ball (two hands only).

Olympic Values

For inquiry this week the task was to research our school and the Olympic key values, to do that we first read through a text about the Olympics. After we'd done that we started on the DLO, once the Olympic part was done we then did a little bit of research on our school (Because we didn't know some things). I learnt about how the Olympic motto is also in a different language, how their creed is about trying their best (No matter what the outcome is) and also how their three values are excellence, friendship and respect.
