Holiday Reading Challenge Week 2 Day 4 Activity 2

Today I did the second activity of the fourth day in the second week, for it I had to read about one person who got the Victorian cross and then write down some information about them.

I chose to research someone called John Grant from Hawera who, before the war was a builder. He earned the Victorian cross because when his battalion attacked German machine gun positions him and another soldier rushed the guns by leaping into the centre and destroying it, he repeated this process again with another machine gun post.

  1. Kia Ora Alex,

Wow! John Grant was so brave! Imagine jumping into the thick of gun fire!! Fantastic work on your research. His family would have been so proud of him. Great use of the words process and battalion!

Have you ever been to Hawera? It is a very small town just above Whanganui. My family would always drive through Hawera on our way to New Plymouth.

    You’re a star!

I look forward to reading more of you blog posts!

    Cadence :)

  2. Kia Ora Alex,
Wow Alex you have been doing awesome researching. I love the way you told everybody who you picked and what you had to do. Did you already know John Grant before doing this activity? Next time you should add a photo of him.
    Fantastic Work!
