Week 1 day 3 activity 1

For this activity I had to find out 3 facts for safety on an airplane.

These are my facts:
1. When you are seated you have to put on your seat belt and if you want to get off of your seat just lift the lever.
2. If in an emergency place your head onto the seat in front of you and keep your legs still and put your arms on top of them, and if there is no seat in front of you or if it's too far away put one hand on top of each other on top of your head and lean down so your elbows are on either side of your legs and make sure your feet are put firmly on the floor.
3. If something happens then oxygen masks will come down and place them on top of your nose and mouth and adjust for a proper fit, even if it doesn't inflate oxygen will still come out.

  1. Hi Alex,

It's awesome to see that you've been watching the Air New Zealand safety videos and blogging about the best way to stay safe in an airplane. You've identified three really important rules.

Interestingly, I was just watching a movie last night that reminds me of your blog. It is called 'Sully' and it's about an airline pilot who was flying a plane from New York to North Carolina in the United States when disaster strikes. A flock of birds flies straight into both of the airplane's engines causing them to stop working. The pilot realises that the plane is going to plummet to the ground and manages to guide in into a large river instead of into a concrete street in New York city. All of the passengers and crew on board the airplane survive the landing and are rescued from the river by boats and helicopters. It's a truly amazing story and, to make it even better, it's a true story. It actually happened in real life!

If you're interested in knowing more about the story, check out the trailer for the movie.
