Summer Learning Journey: Week 3 Day 3

For this activity, please visit the ‘Build Tiny New Zealand’ website and scroll to the bottom of the page where you will find a series of Video Tours of tiny houses. Watch any three videos on the site.

On your blog, tell us whether, or not, you would like to live in a tiny house one day. Please be sure to tell us why you feel the way that you do.

I wouldn't want to live in a tiny house because although, yes, it is a nice cost efficient way to live if you're by yourself or with one other person. Trying to fit a whole family would be too hard, there would nowhere near enough space for everyone to live.

For this activity, we would like you to learn more about 3D printed prosthetics (artificial body parts, like hands or arms). Please watch this video about 3D printed prosthetics (artificial body parts, like hands or arms).

On your blog, tell your readers:
One thing that you learned from watching this video
One thing that surprised you when watching this video

I found out that prosthetics can be really helpful, even though they aren't normal limbs.
I was surprised that prosthethics could be 3D printed.

Speaking of fast, for this activity we would like you to design your own fast vehicle. It can be anything! Please draw your super-fast vehicle on paper or use an app to help you. If it was me, I would make my super-fast vehicle something that I could use to get to school and home again each day!

On your blog, post a picture of your speedy vehicle along with a written description of how it works. Tell your readers what your vehicle is made of, any special features, how fast it goes, and who might use your vehicle.

  1. Hey Alex,

You bring up an excellent point about the tiny houses, I think they look cosy too and lots of them have clever ways of fitting in extra storage and secret furniture packed away but it would be too cramped for a family and you couldn't really have people over. Great job to recognise the positives in different situations though, always important to think about the other side of the thinking.

You haven't written too much on the 3D printed hands and if you get a chance I'd love you to add a little bit more.

Your car looks great! The rocket looks really cool, did you draw it or find it? Good idea to have it pop up only when needed might make pick ups from school a lot more exiting than it needs to be, great if you're running late though aye. :)

    See you in the comments.

    Daniel :)
