On your blog, write a journal entry imagining that you are Mr Mandela. What do you think he did each day? How did he feel? Include as much detail as you can in the journal entry.
Day 23,
Today was very quiet, I mostly stayed inside my cell and only came out to eat my meals. Barely anyone has been fighting and less and less shouting can be heard every day. Some of the guards are nice, whilst others refuse to speak to me. Maybe tomorrow will be different.
On your blog, list three facts (things) that you learned, and include a photograph of something that you are doing around home to help the environment.
1. Thousands of students from all around protested climate change in and out of school.
2. They want no new oil, coal and gas projects.
3. They also want 100% renewable energy by 2030.

On your blog, describe the problem. What did Rosa Parks do about the problem? How did other people react?
Back in the 1900s America was very segregated (There was a divide between races), different races had different privileges ie; White men and women had more rights than black men and women. Rosa Parks was a black woman who refused to let a white passenger have her seat on a bus, she was arrested, but her actions caused an uproar in both black and white communities and major protest began to occur- demanding equal rights for all.
Kia ora Alex,
ReplyDeleteWow I learnt so much about Nelson Mandela from your blog post. Thank you for writing a beautiful explanation from Nelson Mandela’s point of view. I didn’t think about the fact that he couldn’t see his friends and family for a while. He stayed at Robben Island Prison. Did you know that Robben Island is located west of Cape town? You can see the island from the city centre!
A student mentioned that he probably wouldn’t know a lot about new technology and how to use it. Hm, what would be something else that would be new to him when he stepped out of prison?
After visiting the website and having a look for myself about what ‘School Strike for Climate Australia’ are doing. It is clear that you have really thought about this project! I really like your point number 1. Students are taking time out of their own education to strike. They felt like this major action was the only way to be heard.
Would you take a couple days off school to protest against something that you’re passionate about? Keen to hear your ideas!
Nga mihi,
Georgia
