Anzac Biscuits Recount

Making Anzac Biscuits
By Alex

On Thursday 4th June I was so excited because Room 7 was going to make Anzac biscuits. Miss Paton had brought the ingredients such as butter, baking soda, Flour, sugar, coconut and rolled oats. Miss Paton chose Mele to cut 100 grams of butter but Mele couldn’t cut it all because the butter had been in the fridge and because of the wrapper. It was hard so Miss Paton cut the rest for her.

Then she put some butter on the paper gave me the job of greasing the trays. It was kind of hard to push the butter around because the butter was stone hard. The reason that we had to grease the trays was so the biscuits didn’t stick to the tray. Next Miss Paton said that Shailah could have the job of putting one tablespoon of golden syrup into the pot with the butter.

Then Miss Paton took Nazanin and Tai to the kitchen with the pot that had the butter and the golden syrup in. When they got there they put the pot on top of the stove. They turned it on and when it started to melt, they stirred it but they were careful not to tip it over. When they finished melting it, they came back and Miss Paton let Joshua pour ½ a cup of flour in the bowl. Then she let Liam put ½ a cup of sugar into the bowl. After that Avalon got to put ¾ of a cup of rolled oats into the bowl and Najib got to put ¾ of a cup of coconut in it as well. After that PhotoPhoto

Miss Paton put half a teaspoon of baking soda in the pot with two tablespoons of boiling water. Then after that Sanujan poured the melted butter and golden syrup that was in the pot into the bowl. Then everyone mixed the ingredients together and after it was mixed Miss Paton took out a ruler and measured 4 centimetres and said to Sky, Hajera, Juliet, Nyjah, Jacob, Aiden and Taylor that you have to measure 4 centimeters and then put the biscuit down with a spoon and squash it down with a fork. When they finished Miss Paton took the biscuits to the oven that was in the school hall.Photo

She asked Mrs Smith to look after the biscuits that were in the in the oven. When they were baked she took the biscuits from the oven and put them on a table in the class. When we counted the biscuits we had there weren’t enough for everyone so we had to make another batch of biscuits. When they were all cooked nearly all the students got two. The people that didn’t get two biscuits were the naughty students. When I tasted my biscuit it was like a burst of flame going up in my mouth except it wasn’t fire it was the deliciousness of the the golden syrup and butter. Most of the students in Room 7 got two biscuits.Photo
